Rice Project Report from Djibouti Humanists

On behalf of the entire team at the Djibouti Humanist Agriculture Initiative, we are writing to express our deepest gratitude for the generous grant provided by HuMAN, which allowed us to successfully implement and bring our community rice farming project to fruition. What began as an ambitious vision to cultivate food security in our arid region has now become a thriving reality, made possible entirely by your belief in our reason-based, community-driven approach. Over the past two months, our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to clear the land, establish tailored irrigation channels, and implement modern, sustainable agricultural practices designed to overcome local climate challenges. From land preparation and seed sowing to painstaking daily maintenance and crop protection, every phase of this initiative has been executed with meticulous care and transparency. We have officially reached project completion, and standing before a flourishing field of rice that is nearing full maturity fills our group with immense pride and appreciation for the support you extended to us.

As we approach the final stage of this agricultural cycle, we are thrilled to report that our harvest time is officially scheduled for the coming month, with conditions indicating an exceptionally rich yield. Based on our current field assessments and crop density, we anticipate a total harvest of approximately four metric tons of high-quality rice. This upcoming harvest will be carefully processed and distributed through local market channels, where it will generate a projected net profit of $850. A portion of these earnings will be set aside as a self-sustaining reserve fund to purchase seeds and maintain equipment for future planting seasons, while the remaining profits will directly fund our group's ongoing secular outreach programs, educational initiatives, and operational needs. By turning this grant into a profitable enterprise, HuMAN has enabled our organization to transition from relying on external assistance toward achieving true financial independence.

The long-term impact of this rice farm on our local community in the Arta region extends far beyond the immediate economic gains. By introducing an affordable, locally grown staple food, this project directly improves food security for neighboring families and market vendors who have historically relied on volatile, expensive imported grains. The farm stands as a tangible demonstration of how empirical, science-driven agricultural techniques can transform challenging landscapes into reliable sources of sustenance. Beyond providing physical nourishment, the project has established a visible, secular-run enterprise that highlights the power of empathy, human agency, and practical cooperation in building a better world. We are profoundly thankful to HuMAN for partnering with us on this transformative journey, and we look forward to sharing further updates and photos as we complete the upcoming harvest next month.
