Maikunkele Community Garden provides food and income to Tai Solarin Humanist School and the Minna Safe House.

Funds are needed for 2027 in the following categories.

Basic Agricultural Tools

Essential hand tools such as hoes, cutlasses, shovels, and rakes for land clearing, tilling, and daily maintenance. For larger-scale efficiency, a hand-driven tractor would significantly speed up soil preparation.

Seeds and Soil Amendments

A diverse supply of high-yield, climate-appropriate vegetable seeds, alongside organic fertilizers and compost materials to enrich the soil and ensure a productive, sustainable harvest.

Perimeter Fencing

Sturdy chain-link fencing or wire mesh to enclose the garden, protecting the crops from free-roaming livestock, pests, and unauthorized access.

Harvesting and Transport Equipment

Wheelbarrows for moving heavy soil, compost, and equipment around the site, as well as durable baskets and crates for safely harvesting and transporting the produce.

Protective Gear and Storage

Heavy-duty gardening gloves and rubber boots to protect community workers during cultivation, along with a small, secure storage shed to keep tools and equipment safe from the elements and theft.
