Why we became humanists
My (Usman Abubaker) humanism is influenced by my curiosity, since I cannot attend school. I am an autodidact who loves to read. My reading first introduced me to atheism books, that of Richard Dawkins and the paleontologist Stephen Jay Goulds. I was convinced there is no God and still yet somehow convinced we have to be good humans, atheism didn't give me this. Humanism did, and many YouTube videos cemented my faith in secular humanism. I live my life as a humanist, I try to be good to my neighbors, indulge in moderate hedonism, and contribute to the greater good of mankind. If you are a partner who wants to spend our grant funds buying
items for a needy community, please explain in the space below how you will tell recipients we are a humanist organization.
Our group consists of predominantly humanist and religious people but most of our projects are ecological and usually benefit our community members and we can easily speak to them in our local language about humanism as a motivation for the benefits they see.

Project Description
This proposal outlines a plan to establish a mobile cleaning and lawn cutting service catering to modern residential buildings in N'Djamena, Chad. The business will be run by the Humanist members of the N'Djamena Vocational Group, who will benefit from both the employment and skill-building aspects of this initiative. The main objective of this venture is to provide essential services to the local community while empowering the group members by offering them the opportunity to learn, work, and grow.
The mobile cleaning and lawn cutting business will be a community-based enterprise focused on offering essential services to modern residential buildings in N'Djamena. The services will be available on-demand, with customers able to book through a hotline or online platform.
The cleaning service will specialize in both routine and deep cleaning for modern homes, using eco-friendly products and methods to ensure a healthy and safe environment. This will include dusting, vacuuming, washing floors, cleaning windows, and sanitizing bathrooms and kitchens.
The lawn cutting service will be geared towards maintaining the aesthetics of the residential area. Professional lawn cutting, trimming, and edging services will be offered, ensuring that clients’ lawns are neatly maintained year-round.
The business will operate using all necessary tools, such as cleaning supplies, lawnmowers, and safety gear. The N'Djamena Vocational Group members will be trained and employed as part of this initiative, providing them not only with employment but also with essential skills that will contribute to their growth and future career prospects.
Members of the group will receive hands-on training in customer service, equipment handling, safety protocols, and the technical aspects of each service. In addition to the direct work, they will have access to continued vocational training in other areas such as entrepreneurship, digital skills, and management.
This business will not only provide a valuable service to the community but also empower members of the N'Djamena Vocational Group by offering them sustainable employment and skill-building opportunities. With a carefully planned approach, a strong focus on quality service, and a commitment to reinvesting profits into vocational development, this project has the potential to make a lasting impact on both the local economy and the lives of the individuals involved. Through this initiative, we aim to create a model for sustainable, community-driven growth, and contribute to the overall development of N'Djamena.

Project Timeline and Estimated Profit
The establishment of a mobile cleaning service with a $900 budget will begin in early April, focusing initially on acquiring cleaning supplies, equipment, and marketing materials. In the first month, the team will be trained, and operations will start with residential and small commercial cleaning. By May, the service will begin building a customer base through word of mouth and online marketing, while expanding service offerings to attract more clients. By June, the goal is to have a steady stream of customers, optimizing scheduling, and increasing the number of clients served daily.
In terms of profit, the business aims to clean 10 homes or small offices per week at $25 per cleaning, generating about $1,000 per month. After operational costs of approximately $300, the monthly profit would be around $700. By the third month, as customer demand grows, the business could see increased revenue and profit, with an estimated total of $2,100 in profit over the first quarter, all of which will be reinvested into expanding the service and operations.
Benefit to the Community
❖ Improved Cleanliness and Hygiene The cleaning service ensures that residential buildings are regularly and professionally cleaned, which helps maintain a higher standard of hygiene. Clean homes contribute to the overall health and well-being of the inhabitants by reducing the risk of allergens, dust, and germs that can cause illnesses.
❖ Aesthetic Appeal and Property Value The lawn cutting and maintenance service improves the overall aesthetic appeal of residential properties. Well-maintained lawns not only enhance the visual attractiveness of a home but can also increase property value. Regular lawn care creates a positive neighborhood atmosphere and encourages pride in one’s home.
❖ Convenience and Accessibility The mobile nature of the service means that residents don’t have to spend time or effort arranging for cleaning, fumigation, or lawn care. The service comes directly to their doorstep, making it convenient for busy individuals, families, or elderly residents who may struggle with maintaining their homes.
❖ Affordability The services will be priced affordably, making them accessible to a wider range of households, including those who may not have the resources to hire large cleaning companies or lawn care firms. This provides a cost-effective solution for maintaining a clean and well-kept home.
❖ Job Creation and Community Empowerment The project provides employment opportunities for members of the N'Djamena Vocational Group, many of whom may have otherwise lacked access to work. By offering training and employment in cleaning and lawn care, the project not only improves their lives but also empowers them to contribute to their community.
❖ Environmental Benefits By using eco-friendly cleaning products and sustainable pest control methods, the service contributes to protecting the environment. The focus on non-toxic and environmentally safe practices ensures that homes are cleaned and maintained without harming the ecosystem or residents' health.
❖ Support for Local Economy The project fosters local economic growth by offering services tailored to the needs of the community. By sourcing cleaning products and tools locally, the business also supports local suppliers and contributes to the economic development of N'Djamena.
❖ Educational and Vocational Development The project offers training and skill-building for the members of the N'Djamena Vocational Group, enabling them to acquire practical skills in cleaning and lawn maintenance. This vocational training helps them secure future employment, start their own businesses, or contribute positively to their families and communities.
❖ Increased Quality of Life With reliable, professional cleaning and lawn care services, residents can enjoy a higher quality of life. The cleanliness of their homes directly contributes to their comfort, peace of mind, and overall happiness, which in turn can improve their productivity and social well-being.
